Eight foreign nationals arrested in Cape Town, South Africa for online dating scam targeting widows and divorcees.

The suspects allegedly preyed on victims, many of them vulnerable widows or divorcees, who were led to believe that they were in a genuine romantic relationship.

CAPE TOWN - International law enforcement authorities have arrested eight foreign nationals accused of a host of crimes, including money laundering.

In a joint operation involving US agencies, the suspects were tracked down in Cape Town early on Tuesday morning.

The international probe involves the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), US Secret Service, Interpol and the Hawks and Special Task Force, among others

The FBI estimates that more than 100 people lost more than R100 million in these scams over the past decade.

These scams are common and many women including countries like Zambia fall prey to 'online dating scams'.

These scammers are among us but they create fake profiles of beautiful women or men living in UK or America. They have a long game some even take 6 months chatting you up with love messages and just when you thought they are real, they scam you big time and disappear.

At least the American Government sent the FBI & CIA to track these scammers from whatever holes they hide in.

When your internet lover sends you are parcel with computers, iPhones & money 💸, then later you get an SMS telling you the customs in South Africa have held to the parcel until you pay K5000 just know it's a scam.

Be careful you might be dating a black guy in Nigeria thinking it's a white man from Netherlands.
