I feel burdened to offer my views on the impact of exorcism on children. Let me begin by saying I am not a phycologist nor demonologist expert, but I know enough as a person who has experienced demon possession, a person who has casted out demons for many years, and a person who holds a degree in Biblical Theology.
I also want to state right upfront that I don't believe that Christians can be demon possesed.
However I believe that as we live in this evil broken World Christians can be oppressed by demons. In a nutshell I believe that humans can be demon #possesed, and they can be demon #oppressed.
To put it in layman's terms; demon possesed describes demons that oppress a person from inside. Demon oppression describes the activities of demons from outside in.
DEFINITION
Exorcism is defined as an act of expelling or casting out of evil spirits from a person or place.
While African Christians tend to avoid the term exorcism. We prefer to use the term deliverance. However deliverance is a very broader term that does not always entail demon possession.
If you locked yourself in the toilet and someone manages to break the toilet door to help you out, that is deliverance, no demons involved in this case. Deliverance has the meaning of being saved from someone or something.
CHILDREN AND EXORCISM
What most parents who are part of the deliverance churches where every gathering there are manifestation of demonic spirits and consequently casting out demons don't realize is that demons are territorial.
Therefore exposure to places of exorcism becomes the gate way to demon possession of your children. Let me rephrase that; while you went to church to pray, the manifestations of demons in that church exposes your children to demon possession.
Spirits have no power to torture or inflict pain on us. That is why God became a man & died for us on Calvary.
In the same way spirits roam around looking for bodies to enter in and possess that soul to function legally here on earth.
So while the pastor is shouting "come out in Jesus Name" your child's eyes are open, your child's eyes are open hearing the responses of the demon possesed person, your child's mouth is open in utter shock trying to figure out in a child-like mind what on earth is happening here, and your child's nose is open.
As an adult you trust that your Pastor is casting out a demon, but you haven't asked which body will that expelled demon possess next? It could be one of you congregants, it could be your child.
Before long your child's behaviour at school changes. The grades begin to fall behind and the child that was once jovial, active and friendly is now reserved, aloof and start locking him/herself in the bedroom.
Teachers want to know why the certain behaviour change in a child.
They ask about your marriage; "are you guys having marital problems or fights that can affect your child? Are you on separation or divorcing? Are you struggling financially?
But you have no idea because the home is okay, but you forgot you went to church with your child who witnessed exorcism.
I believe that exposing children to exorcism either on television or in church should be classified as child abuse, period!
When doctors see patients privacy is very important. We all know those mobile curtain and treatment bed.
You don't see medical doctors showing how they are performing surgery on television while looking at the audience shouting, "what is my name?" And the audience shout back "Doctor incredible you are the best!"
No, a patient can sue the doctor for leaking their medical condition. They respect patients privacy because that's what human dignity is about.
You don't make a name out of the pain, sickness and suffering of a person who seeks spiritual help from you parading them vomitting, screaming and hallucinating on National Television? No, that's not deliverance, it's utter disrespect of humans.
I watched a Christian channel where this young lady with two kids attended that church for the first time.
She was called in front with her kids. The Pastor without any thought about the kids, the minors, the innocent kids standing on both side of their mother, he began his prophecy.
Then he reached to a point he said, "the father of these two kids left you for another woman. There is a spirit that comes to you every night having sex with you".
Okay, you may not like Lawrence Musunte I get it, but think for a moment....think!
The 9 & 7 years kids just heard there is a spirit that comes to their house to have sex with their mother!
This too me is too much information of adult nature that should never ever been broadcasted in a church full of people, and among those people our children, and later on show it to the whole world.
Sometimes people are spiritually manipulated to think it's okay for pastor to show me in the most vulnerable time of my life.
We need to give church folk a voice! Which employer wants to employ someone they saw vomitting on television? Which man wants to marry a woman whose nakedness were exposed in church with a thousand people watching?
I suggest that children church should be equipped to teach children the Bible at the level of their understanding.
I believe that exorcism should happen privately, and the person being delivered should give consent and decide who should be with her during these private exorcism.
This to me is about helping someone spiritually while preserving their dignity.
Public vommiting, skirts falling down and dressers pulled up exposing the nakedness of especially our mothers and sisters demonstrates our spiritual arrogance and impunity in disregarding the dignity of our mothers & sisters.
Choking, slapping, punching, stepping on, kicking, seating on top of people you are exorcising, we have seen it all right?
Your President or your mayor you can't parade them in that way because actually you know better, we can do better.
I was about seven years old when I was first exposed to exorcism.
My cousin sister was always manifesting demons sometimes even at school. I remember my aunt will be very distressed.
She would hire exorcists to come and play drums. They would make a huge circle with white powder and place my cousin sister inside the circle.
These exorcists would warn us not to step inside the circle otherwise these demons will enter our bodies. They played the drums, I remember the song;

This song rung on my mind into my teenage years. And those moments placed me right in the vicinity or territory of demonic spirits.
There are three places I think in my view where I was exposed to exorcism;
It was first at home, second in church, and thirdly in movies and mostly, precisely Nigerian movies.
They elevated exorcism at another level that fear of evil spirits outweigh our faith in God. And that was the times as a nation we began to import doctrines of exorcism.
ACTION PLAN FOR PARENTS
1. Find a church that has a sound Biblical Preaching with a good children Ministry.
2. Limit exposure of your children from any form of exorcism happening in your village, in movies or churches.
3. Avoid your child being misdiagnosed as little witch or possesed.
There is what I call WORD based deliverance that doesn't have to be scary or dramatic.
To call a child a little witch will affect her social life especially at school.
Children get killed because a zealous brook hungry Prophet deliberately calling your child a witch in order to manipulate you to pay for your child's deliverance.
If you suspect something, seek help from a Christian trained social worker or child psychologist.
4. Ensure your child is not reading books that might introduce him and open him up to demonic possession.
THE PYTHON SPIRIT OF FORTUNE TELLING
As I conclude allow me to highlight how demon spirits are transferred into your life and into your home through "accurate prophesy"
In (Acts 16: 16) a story of a slave girl who was possessed with a python spirit that helped her in accurate predictions is told.
This girl was first bound by her slave master who owned her, and secondly; she was bound also by the python spirit.
The slave owner hit a jacket because what it means is that the money that she makes through her accurate predictions belonged to her master. She was a slave 'prophet'.
Many people went to a prophetic deliverance session free, and after they left the session they became possessed with evil spirits.
Some of you problems in your life began when you visited these prophetic churches. But you thought it's Satan fighting your things in life because you are now connected to a Prophet the man of God, your beloved Papa.
No darling, you are connected to a greedy python spirit now. Every time you have money in your hands, your hands begin itching until you take it to the man of God even if it means taking bread from your children. The python must be fed daily.
Because people can't trust their future in the hands of God. They can't trust God with their future.
When God gives us a dream or vision he doesn't give us every minute detail of the things we will go through.
God deliberately in His Sovereignty omits the parts where our own family will be jealous of us.
That they will try to kill us by throwing us in the pit.
That they will be sellouts who will make merchandise of us by selling us to foreigners.
That we will be accused of rape or crimes we never committed. That we shall be in Prison before we can finally come out and live our dream.
The devil knows our desparation to know our every step to our future.
Will I ever get married? have children? Get promoted? Buy a house? Be financially prosperous?
It is through these accurate predictions/prophecies that we are initiated into the python spirit.
Sometimes the initiation comes through oil, water, a piece of cloth, pictures and stickers.
But sometimes they enter you when you say; "I receive...I receive...I receive"
Parenting our children is our responsibility. We not only protect them physically, we protect them from becoming partakers of prophecy powered by python spirits and get initiated into evil spirits through what you may be calling accurate predictions/prophesy.
Even "accurate predictions" of your unborn baby. Don't allow your pregnancy to be taken advantage of by exposing it so soon to exorcism. Protect your the seed you are carrying from the python spirit.
