People, if you watched how packed Wembley stadium was in last night's football match between England and Italy, and how thousands of people were so compacted without even wearing masks, you would begin to ask questions. (1) Those countries were really hit bad and lost a lot of lives to covid19 last year, and their health facilities and services as good as they are were so overwhelmed, but what got them to this point that the covid infections and mortality rate has gone so low that they can even crowd stadiums without wearing masks? (2) Why has the UK government now announced that from the 19th of July 2021, all covid19 restrictions will be lifted and it will be optional for people to wear in public places, and life will be back to normal as before the covid19 pandemic? The reason is simple! Those countries with the effort of their governments and the collective cooperation of their people followed through the 5 golden rules and other preventative measures, and now have reached the herd immunity level for having vaccinated majority or over 70% of their population. While they were vaccinating their people, we on the other hand have been in denial about the reality of covid19 and have continued our unfounded, primitive superstitious, politically and conspiracy theories based debates about whether we should or shouldn't get the vaccines. Our primitivity, our superstitions, our attitude of being political about everything, our casual approach to serious things, our simpleton tendencies to all kind of information, even to conspiracy theories that has been flying around on social media has been our greatest unfortunate undoing. It is said that the simple believe everything. Let me ask you some questions: (1) Have you seen any body or heard about somebody who has died of covid19 so far or seen people on the media that are dying of covid19? (2) Do you know anybody that has had covid19 infection or seen on the media how people in different places in our country or other countries are being infected with covid19? (3) If so do, you think it is because they were too weak or not clever to have been infected or died of covid19? (4) Will you wait until you get covid19 infection or see somebody you love get infected and suffer severely or die of it before you can consider getting the vaccine? (5) If you believe vaccines don't work or are dangerous to get, do you have another solution? (6) If you believe all the primitive superstitious conspiracy theories that vaccines sent to Africa are sent to kill us, have you asked how many vaccines you have taken since you were born, particularly at your infancy stage, and about who made those vaccines? The same people that have made the covid vaccines made them other vaccines that you took and have helped you this far. And the same people make the medical drugs you keep consuming even today. What makes you think they want to kill you now? Vaccines work. They are another layer of protection to our health against diseases. When you get vaccinated, it has been proven medically that even chances of you getting infected are slim and if at all you get infected, the probability of you suffering severely or critically from the disease or even dying is minimal or very low.
