MOTIVE
Apparently there is no murder weapon, no suspects yet, & no motive.
Members of Jesus Christ Our Hope Church are divided. The church has diverse members from West Africa, other African countries, black South Africans, coloureds & a few whites.
Foreigners especially Nigerians are arguing that the Pastor was simply lured by that Jezebel of a woman Browlyn. That the man of God can not sink so low into adultery. It is the devil's work through that Jezebel of a woman.
They are speaking in a way that stigmatizes colored women as the devil's tools to destroy men of God.
While most local South Africans are disgusted by the kind of shameful death of Pastor Obi, it appears the house helper Mthobeli gave half-truths or omitted a few details in her statement to the police.
Mthobeli's live-in boyfriend Nyirenda from Malawi who does garden work & pool cleaning told the police that his girlfriend left home in the morning as usual around 7 AM.
Where was she from 7 AM - 11:20 AM when she arrived at the Peters' house?
The police decided to summon Mthobeli to help with investigations. At this point Mthobeli is the suspect in the Naked Crime Scene.
Why did she lie to her boyfriend that she was going for work at 7 AM when the deceased, Mrs. Peters told her to come for work at 11:30 AM?
She was ushered in the interrogation room by Detective Kelvin Mabaso. He spoke to her nicely and told her to relax as she is there only to help Police to find the person behind this bloody murder.
Detective Mabaso left her in the interrogation room alone for about 45 minutes. The wait created more stress for Mthobeli shaking & sweating.
Finally after 45 minutes Detective Mabaso walked in and sat opposite her asking her to answer a few questions ;
Detective: I just want to ask you a few questions, is it okay?
Mthobeli: Yes sir.
Detective: What time did you leave your house the morning of the murder?
Mthobeli: 7 AM
Detective: This means you were at the Peter's house when the murder happened right?
Mthobeli: No, sir I only arrived at the house at 11:20
Detective: Do you have two jobs Miss Mthobeli?
Mthobeli: No sir, I only have one job.
Detective: But you told your boyfriend Mr. Nyirenda that you were going for work. Tell me, where we're you if not your second job?
Mthobeli: I went to see my friend in Wynberg.
Detective: Wynberg is a big place, come on give me the address & if your friend can confirm that you were at that address then you are off the hook.
Mthobeli: 808 Grand Central Apartments
Detective: You are doing well Miss Mthobeli. What is the name of your friend you visited at Grand Central?
Mthobeli: His name is Nwoke Oma.
Detective: How long have you known this Nwoke Oma?
Mthobeli: I think about 3 years
Detective: Does your boyfriend know about this guy?
Mthobeli: No, Nyirenda is a very jealous and possessive man, he can not know about it.
Detective: Would you describe him as a violent man?
Mthobile: not really, but sometimes he breaks things in the house when he is upset. But he is a good man.
Detective: I want you to think before you respond to this question; can you say for sure that Nwoke Oma was with you all the time when you arrived at Grand Central apartment until the time you left to go for work?
Mthobile: He got a call around 9:30 AM so he left me in the apartment alone. I left the apartment before he came, I didn't want to be late for work . I left the keys with the security down stairs.
Detective: That will be all for today. What we need is Mr. Nwoke Oma to confirm that you were at 808 Grand Central on a fateful day. You are free to go.
Nwoke Oma is a typical drug lord loved by the community in Wynberg. He is a tall, dark & well built man.
His physical stature can scare you, but he is such a teddy bear. Like a lion, he moves up and down marking his territory & supervising his boys doing what they do best on the streets of Wynberg.
But who is Nwoke Oma? If you met Nwoke for the first time you will think he is a good man just as his name means. But don't be fooled by his generosity in helping out people in Grand Central. He is a very dangerous man!
Mthobeli is caught up in a love triangle like her boss lady Bronwyn. But what she doesn't know is that the late Pastor Obi Akwanke who was murdered together with her boss lady, know Nwoke Oma very well.
When Pastor Obi arrived in Cape Town to open a church many years ago, it is Nwoke Oma who hosted him and helped him to start Jesus Christ Our Hope Church.
At that time they lived in Woodstock a perfect hideout for drug dealers. It is the drug money that was used to establish the church all thanks to Nwoke Oma.
These two brothers' fight began when this young, beautiful Navy Officer Tsakani arrived at Jesus Christ Our Hope Church.
Nwoke has seen women in South Africa but this Tsakani girl was different. His prejudices about South African women were thrown out of the window. To Nwoke, this was not a game to get into Tsakani's pants. It was not a scam, or 419 long-term project.
She looked like a woman he would happily spend his life with. But one thing I learned is that you can't compete with the anointed man of God when it comes to the opposite sex.
Nwoke proceeded to tell Pastor Obi that his heart longs for sister Tsakani. Pastor discouraged him saying he must marry a Nigerian woman. His argument was that South African women will never accept to leave SA with you when time comes for you to return to Nigerian.
"We are here to make money not to settle & make children" Pastor Obi said.
But Nwoke's heart was set on Tsakani, behind the pastor's back Nwoke made the first move. It seemed like everything was falling in place until Pastor Obi heard that the two are dating.
Then hell broke loose. It was like Pastor Obi was protecting a sheep from the wolf.
He summoned Tsakani to his office and told her that Nwoke is a brother from Nigeria. I have been trying to help him stop selling drugs but to no avail. You being a Navy Officer you shouldn't find yourself entangled with a drug dealer.
This information upset Tsakani so much.
"Nwoke you lied to me that your business is selling jewelry, but you sell drugs. How can I trust a guy like you? From today I don't want to see you again".
Nwoke tried to respond but it was too late she blocked him on whatsaap, Facebook & blocked his number.
Nwoke was broken. He cried for Tsakani. He was willing to stop drug dealing & open a descent business just to be with Tsakani, but no! Tsakani has gone.
In the days and weeks that followed the broken Tsakani went seeking counsel & prayer from Pastor Obi.
When a woman opens up to her pastor she becomes vulnerable. It is this vulnerability that causes emotional attachments especially when a pastor is saying all the right things.
The hugging, kissing & the first sex happened during the one-on-one Pastoral counseling.
The next thing the Church heard was the engagement between Pastor Obi & sister Tsakani.
The news was a betrayal of the worst kind to brother Nwoke. These two brothers never saw each other until the death of Pastor Obi.
Will Nwoke join the Nigerian community to mourn the death of his friend?
There is a possibility that Nwoke killed Pastor Obi, and maybe Mrs. Peters' saw his face & he decided to end her life too.
Police are now closing in on Nwoke Oma. He is the only person so far who has a motive. As the Holy Bible states;
"love is as strong as death, and jealous as cruel as death".
